Last Saturday I was really fortunate to have a test shoot with the amazing Sophia (pictured) and thought this would be a good opportunity to try out the new softbox.
Even though it is relatively lightweight I would suggest that it’s too heavy for the Manfrotto Nano stands, especially when combined with a hot-shoe mount, PocketWizard Flex and a Speedlite. The Nano stand can hold the weight but I’d be really worried about the overall stability of the rig. Not too bad inside but outside and you’d be asking for an accident with the slightest gust of wind. I took this into consideration when packing for this shoot and opted for my Elinchrom lightstands instead. They’re a lot sturdier and can reach to a full 8 feet too but the cost is the additional weight and bulk.
First impressions were this is a great, versatile light. Quick to put up and very easy to use. The only issue I had was the severe lack of access to adjust the flash power. Near enough impossible without unfastening a corner of the front diffuser screen.
